The Indonesian designer rings in Chinese New Year with his latest collection

Introducing his latest collection, “Le Jardin Chinois”, at the Hotel Mulia Senayan, Jakarta, in January, Sebastian Gunawan showcased his most recent sources of inspiration, that being traditional European and Chinese fashion. Using cheongsams as the foundation, Gunawan interweaves the design traditions of the Chinese – mandarin collar and body-fitting structure – with those of the Europeans – high collar and lace. He also ensured that the collection kept up with time by opting for updated silhouettes and a lively colour palette.
