Telstra Perth Fashion Festival (TPFF) Day 2 & 3

Following the festivities of the opening night of the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival (TPFF), #TeamFIDe’s media friends, designers and esteemed guests were treated to a delectable champagne brunch at the Cott and Co. Fish Bar in picturesque Cottesloe Beach, specially organised by Tourism Western Australia.
Soon after FIDé’s international guests visited newly inducted Asian Couture Federation Invited Member Ae’lkemi’s boutique and had a chance to see the Western Australian designer’s work up close and have a chat with the man behind the brand, Alvin Fernandez.
While FIDé’s international guests were out exploring Perth, FIDé Fashion Weeks Founding Chairman, Dr. Frank Cintamani and Asian Couture Federation Vice President Ms. Emily Hwang were at the offices of one of TPFF’s key partners, the Hawaiian Group. Frank and Emily sat on a panel amongst fellow industry leaders and gave their insights into the global fashion and retail market to an audience of Western Australian retailers and business owners.
Without our key partners such as the Hawaiian Group and Singapore Airlines, the partnership with Telstra Perth Fashion Festival would not have been as smooth sailing. In the evening, Singapore Airlines hosted an event at the Art Gallery of Western Australia aimed at highlighting the connection between art, photography and fashion. Guests were regaled with a private viewing of a Richard Avedon exhibition. The second day of the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival was brought to a close with an intimate dinner for the FIDé delegation, which was held at the revolving C Restaurant that offered a spectacular view of the City of Perth and a chance to unwind over a palatable meal.
As day 3 kicked off in Perth, Asian Couturier Extraordinaire Frederick Lee arrived in Perth and went directly from the airport to fitting his models in preparation for his show at the Hawaiian property, Claremont Quarter, on the 21st of September. While Frederick and his team were hard at work all day preparing the collection, Frank and Emily along with FIDé’s media contingent, participated in a round table forum organised by the Sunday Times and moderated by the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Australia Edwina McCann.
In the evening, the FIDé delegation travelled to the Ascott Racing Course for more runway action. The night commenced with an emotional tribute paid to the late Ruth Tarvydas, which featured a fashion showcase of her most iconic dresses over the years. Celebrity model Rebecca Judd also joined the meaningful showcase where part of the evening’s proceeds will go to Anglicare WA, which was Tarvydas’ charity of choice. The evening also featured the ‘Galvanized’ showcase which highlighted Western Australian design talent and consisted of 33 Poets, Alex Perry, Zhivago, Manning Cartel and Empire Rose.
